The newest Battle Royale game to take the world by storm is ‘Realm Royale’, a game clearly inspired by other BR games, but with it’s own unique twists.

The game has very quickly become popular after being released in its ‘alpha’ stage, after previously being known as ‘Paladins: Battlegrounds’ and was featured as a game mode in the popular game Paladins.

It is made very clear that it is in Alpha however, with a number of bugs needing fixed and tweaks to be made before the game is truly refined for a full release.

With streaming playing a significant role in the growing popularity and exposure for these kinds of games, and top streamers have been putting some serious time into Realm Royale recently.

One such streamer who has taken a particular liking to the game is former CS:GO player Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar, who is now one of the most popular streamers on Twitch.

There are some obvious issues that will no doubt be fixed in the final version of the game, but summit1g has highlighted one gameplay issue in particular which he thinks needs immediate attention.

As a third person game, Realm Royale sometimes forces players to peek round cover with their full body due to the inability to ‘shoulder swap’, as summit1g demonstrates:

In fact, summit1g explains that it is not only a problem with Realm Royale, but a number of third person shooter games which don’t offer the ability to view from over the opposite shoulder than the default (typically right).

It is a feature similarly lacking in the most popular battle royale games such as Fortnite and PUBG, and it leads to situations where one player may have an advantage if their angle allows them to peek round corners without exposing their whole character model.

Perhaps if Realm Royale can take the initiative and introduce this feature and other intuitive gameplay mechanics, they may be able to rise to the top of the pile of the ever more saturated BR genre.
