Pokemon Go’s fourth Spotlight Hour of March 2021 will celebrate Hoenn’s Surskit. Does the Gen III ‘mon have a Shiny? Here is everything you need to know, including how players can get a 2x bonus and more.
In March, Niantic launched the Season of Legends in Pokemon Go to highlight ‘mon across the series’ 25 year history. For its fourth Spotlight Hour of the month, the mobile title is taking a look back at Ruby & Sapphire’s Surskit.
Will the Water/Bug-type finally gets its Shiny form two years afters making its debut in 2018? We will break down the entire limited-time event, including what the mystery bonus is for players who participate.
Pokemon Go Surskit Spotlight Hour date & start time
As has been the case for a few years now, Niantic dedicates each Tuesday of every month to honor a single Pokemon. For 60 minutes, the entire map will only feature spawns of the highlighted character for players logged in during the set time.
For March 23’s Spotlight Hour, fans will encounter adorable Gen III ‘mon, Surskit. The event will kick off at 6 PM and run until 7 PM. The limited-time celebration is based on local time so make sure to mark your calendars.
While the Ruby & Sapphire character is not the most beloved ‘mon by any means, the hour-long festivities will also give players looking to boost their Trainer level a chance to get an insane amount of XP with the week’s mystery bonus.
Pokemon Go Surskit Spotlight Hour bonus
Over the past year, Pokemon Go’s annual Tuesday celebrations have been combined with the Mystery Bonus Hour. For Surskit’s Spotlight on March 23, players will be able to score a 2x XP bonus.
Since players will be catching hundreds of Hoenn creature anyways, this doubles as a great opportunity for the community to level up. In December, Niantic increased the Trainer level cap from 40 to 50, making this the perfect time to grind for experience.
For maximum points, we recommend using a Lucky Egg for double XP as it will stack with the hour’s bonus.
Does Surskit have a Shiny in Pokemon Go?
Seeing as Niantic is giving Surskit its very own Spotlight Hour, does this mean the Gen III ‘mon will finally gets its Shiny debut? Unfortunately, the answer is no. Despite being added all the way back in 2018, the Water/ Bug-type still does not have its rare alternate variant.
It’s anyone’s guess as to when the Ruby & Sapphire creature will get its secondary form. However, at the time of writing we can confirm that the Hoenn creature will not receive its sought-after alternative colors in Pokemon Go just yet.
