Overwatch has disabled Wrecking Ball in Competitive play on Xbox after reports of a game-breaking bug following the June 18 patch.
The most recent Overwatch update contained a number of balance changes for heroes, the Replay system and Baptiste’s Reunion Challenge, but it also seems to have included a serious bug.
Shortly after the patch on June 18 was released, players started noticing a glitch that caused Overwatch to crash when multiple ultimates were used at the same time. At this point, it only seems to be affecting Xbox players, so PC and PS4 players can play without worry.
Hammond seems to be the problem
It’s not just any two ultimates that can cause the bug because crashes only seem to happen when Wrecking Ball uses his Minefield ultimate at the same time a teammate uses theirs, which causes the entire enemy team to disconnect from the game/crash.
Obviously, this glitch had some serious potential for abuse, especially in ranked so it’s no surprise Blizzard acted relatively quickly to the problem.
On June 19 the Blizzard announced they were disabling Hammond on Xbox until they could get the game-ending bug fixed, at the time of writing Wrecking Ball is still disabled and Blizzard has yet to inform us when he’ll be back.
We still don’t know if Blizzard will take any action against players who exploited the glitch to gain SR while it was happening, but the publisher has been known to take action against players that have exploited obvious bugs in the past.

Baptiste’s Reunion Challenge, Replays and More
Overwatch’s June 18 Patch brought a lot of new content to the game such as balance updates for several heroes, including a buff to McCree that’s got folks pretty excited to cowboy around.

Baptiste’s Reunion Challenge also started on June 18 and players have until July 1 to unlock the player icon, sprays and new skin that are only available while the Challenge is going on.
Finally the Replay feature, which also went live on June 18, is already being used by players to capture a ton of great (mostly hilarious) moments from their previous matches.
