One of the new Canadian Overwatch League franchises – Vancouver – has taken another step ahead of the upcoming season, partnering with Canadian esports organization Luminosity Gaming.

The partnership was announced on Twitter and provides a link to a post on the official Overwatch League website discussing the partnership.

Luminosity will partner with Vancouver to “help craft and implement our strategy surrounding player acquisition, key staffing, day-to-day operations, marketing and more,” the post reads.

Luminosity has been in the competitive Overwatch scene for a long time, having started team Mixup, which featured notable names like Seagull and Harbleau back in 2016.

The Vancouver Canucks are also partnering with Luminosity as part of the deal. The Aquilini Group, which owns the Canucks, also own Vancouver’s yet-unnamed new Overwatch League team.

Along with Vancouver, the new Toronto Overwatch League team is also hitting the ground running, with an event revealing the team logo, colors and other information coming later in October.

The Overwatch League’s second season starts in early 2019 and with eight more teams, some restructuring had to be done to the match schedule, but at the end of the day, OWL fans shouldn’t be too upset about having eight new teams to watch each week.
