As congratulations for the Spitfire’s victory in Season One of the Overwatch League, Triple H has gifted the team with a custom-made, WWE-style champion’s belt.

This isn’t the first time the WWE has gifted a championship belt by any means, but with previous recipients including the likes of 2016 Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots and NBA champions the Golden State Warriors, the London Spitfire are in esteemed company.

It is, however, the first time such a gift has been sent to an esports team, making the London Spitfire the only team in the industry currently capable of donning such a belt.

Though the Spitfire might not be the most theatrical team in the Overwatch League, that’s a fact that fans will undoubtedly be hoping to see them take advantage of when Season Two arrives.

London Spitfire won the inaugural season of the Overwatch League in dominant fashion, storming through the playoffs before ultimately beating Philadelphia Fusion in the grand finals at the Barclays Center, New York, to claim the title.

The run came after a regular season of mixed results, with the team hitting incredible peaks at times but significantly underwhelming at others. Towards the end of the season the team cut down their active squad, leaving just seven core players to focus on. The stream-lined squad hit form at the perfect time to win the trophy.

The London Spitfire are unsurprisingly the only team not to have announced any changes to their roster following Season One, but with a new eight-man roster minimum for Season Two the Spitfire will have to add at least one new player.
