Overwatch players discover all kinds of things as they explore the game, but one Reddit user has discovered a threat to the Overwatch world that could be more dangerous than Talon or an Omnic uprising – The Moon.

In a post on Reddit’s Overwatch subreddit, user Lateasusual_ said they were slogging through Quick Play when they noticed something strange on Horizon Lunar Colony.

After some more research, they discover that the astronomical properties of both the Earth and Moon are the same in Overwatch as in real life, but there’s a big problem: in Overwatch, the Moon is only 2000km away from Earth, instead of the 385,000km distance between the two in real life.

Long story short, this is bad because the gravitational pull the Moon exerts on Earth would be far stronger, about 7,000,000 times stronger according to Lateasusual_, which would cause massive tidal waves around the entire globe.

But that’s not all, the massive tidal forces would cause an increase in earthquakes and volcanic activity on Earth, in addition to monster tidal waves. Sounds fun, right?

Even though this should lead to widespread planetary devastation, Lateasusual_ added that it would be cool to see an Overwatch map with lava pools all around.

Maybe the Moon was moved closer to Earth by the Horizon project, though we don’t really know if the human civilization in Overwatch is capable of such engineering feats, and with the way Overwatch lore is dispensed, we may never get an answer.

A map with lava would be cool though.
