Blizzard is set to reveal more details of the Overwatch Anniversary event during an Overwatch League broadcast.

Blizzard has already revealed that a huge amount of content will be coming for the event. New additions will include the usual array of skins, as well as a brand-new Deathmatch map, Petra, and a ranked competitive queue for Deathmatch.

As well as the new content, all previous event items – which are usually only available during their respective event – will also available to be unlocked or received through the Anniversary loot boxes. In addition, all previous event Brawls will be returned to the arcade, cycling through them each day.

It seems there are still more surprises in store, however, as Blizzard has announced that more will be revealed during the Overwatch League broadcast on Saturday May 19th, with reveals by assistant game director Aaron Keller and lead writer Michael Chu taking place in the half-time break of the day’s first and second matches.

It seems likely that the reveal will include a first look at Petra, about which very little is currently known. Beyond its name and some vague hints about its structure from Jeff Kaplan about some of its features, the details of the map remain a mystery less than a week before its release.

Meanwhile, the presence of lead writer Michael Chu might suggest new lore details will be revealed, perhaps even a new animated short – it’s been six months since that last one, and there’s perhaps no better time for a new instalment in the immensely popular video series than the anniversary of the game’s release.
