The Division 2, the latest game in the Tom Clancy series, will be available in early access on March 12. The download size for the Day one patch will be massive, so be prepared.

Upon release, The Division 2 will be available to download alongside title update 1. As is common with many other games upon release, this day 1 patch will address various bug fixes and provide improvements for the main game.

Whether you are on PS4, Xbox or PC, the game requires an enormous amount of space to download.

OG PS4 and Xbox users will need to make a large percentage of their hard drive available. Both the original systems only come with 500GB of storage. The premium versions, the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, aren’t much better with just 1TB of storage space.

As per the Ubisoft support page, The Division 2 will need between 88GB and 92GB of hard disk space. This means that on the original PS4 nearly 20% of your hard drive will need to be free. It also means even on a PS4 Pro, close to 10% is required.

The download size for the Xbox and PC is somewhat better, albeit still large. Both systems require 48GB to 52GB of space.

These systems need less space to download because, while not confirmed, the PS4 allocates twice the space that is required. There are also posts suggesting that the way the Playstation compresses files is different to Xbox and PC.

Division 2 release date

Massive Entertainment’s newest game (no pun on the download size) will be available in early access on March 12. The full release comes on March 15.

Players who are downloading the game digitally, as opposed to buying the physical copy, can preload the game now to save time. However, PS4 players will need to wait until March 15, unless you have pre-ordered the Gold or Ultimate Edition.
