Team Liquid’s Jake “POACH” Brumleve found out the hard way that Fortnite’s storm is destroying buildings inside the storm.

POACH was coming towards the end of a scrim with Liquid teammate Thomas “72hrs” Mulligan when the storm began to close in behind them. Prepared for it, POACH and 72hrs are heard in the clip discussing how far the storm would come in, and calculating what their next move would be.

However, as the storm moves in, POACH’s building begins to disappear, even the parts that are outside of the storm, leaving him open and defenseless against his enemies.

POACH immediately takes a shotgun blast as 72hrs tells him to build, as the floor beneath POACH hilariously disappears under his feet while he desperately tries to build around him.

The Team Liquid pro player complained about lag while he tried to fix the destruction that was taking place behind him, and it’s entirely possible that some lag caused the storm to glitch out and destroy his entire building.

Alternatively, this could be how the storm is designed, and that any building that touches the storm will be destroyed in its entirety.

The new storm mechanics were introduced in the V5.40 update that released on Thursday, September 6. Included in the update was the new High Stakes event, the Grappler item, and updated in-game locations like Dusty Diner.
