Building, the mechanic that separates Fortnite from the rest of the Battle Royale genre, makes for many of the most exciting clips in the game.
Xventox04, a young Fortnite streamer, found himself taking shots as he glided towards a structure with only one other person remaining.
He landed and immediately went to work eventually trapping his opponent and finishing them off with a pump/SMG combo.
While xventox04 showed off a lot of skills in this clip, but let’s highlight his use of half stairs to trick his opponent.
Three separate times he did a half stair but he only went up it once, using it as a decoy the other two times. His opponent didn’t seem to have any idea where he was and xventox04 ended up behind them to finish off the game with ease.
Building is the mechanic that made a lot of people fall in love with this game and was the reason TSM’s Myth became so popular. It’s also what could give Fortnite esports serious staying power in the larger esports scene.
Few things are more exciting in esports than a high-level build war with a lot on the line. Hopefully Epic figures out a competitive format that better rewards building up and out, instead of camping at the bottom.
