Some of the biggest names in Call of Duty were invited to a three-day event in Los Angeles to hammer out the ruleset for the upcoming Black Ops 4 season.

As with any new CWL season, the competitive ruleset is a hot topic as players debate what should or shouldn’t be included.

With Black Ops 4, CWL has taken a different approach in an attempt to hammer things out ahead of the beginning of the season.

As revealed by CWL PR Manager Xav de Matos on Twitter, a mix of players, team personnel, and league officials were invited to a three-day summit in LA to discuss the Black Ops 4 ruleset.

Rather than simply put out a ruleset and have to deal with backlash from players about different aspects of the rules, the event has allowed players to have a hand in the first version to ensure their concerns are adequately addressed.

Given the fact that this was a three-day event in LA, though, it’s no surprise that not every team was able to send a player out.

This was acknowledged by de Matos in a follow-up tweet which made it clear that the feedback of such players was “still valuable” and that CWL will “make sure to pay attention to the chatter for any potential changes ahead of Vegas.”

Among the teams not in attendance, OpTic Gaming was a notable exclusion, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying from CWL.

Responding to a fan who noticed the absence of the Green Wall, de Matos clarified that they were invited but “were unavailable for the trip.”

With Black Ops 4 just a day from release on October 12 and CWL Vegas less than two months away, you can expect plenty of opinions on the game and the ruleset to continue circling within the community.
