Stage 1 of the 2021 Call of Duty League season is officially over, with Atlanta FaZe beating Dallas Empire in the grand final of the Stage 1 Major. Here’s our Team of the Week from the historic event, as well as the game-changing MVP.

Throughout the 2021 season, we are crowning an MVP and Team of the Week from each week of play, celebrating the best of the best and showcasing which talents have the biggest impact week in, week out.

Whether it be high killstreaks, insane clutch plays or simply a lights-out all-round performance, here is our Team of the Week and MVP for the CDL Stage 1 Major.

At the Stage 1 Major, Atlanta FaZe played near-flawless Call of Duty. The only maps they dropped throughout the tournament were against Dallas Empire in the grand final, and even then they bounced back with ease. But what set these players apart from the rest?

Here’s how we came up with our Team of the Week for the Stage 1 Major.

MVP: Chris ‘Simp’ Lehr — Atlanta FaZe

The MVP award was a tough call, with each of Atlanta’s players having incredible maps and moments.

Tyler ‘aBeZy’ Pharris had an incredible tournament, but when the final arrived, Chris ‘Simp’ Lehr was nothing short of phenomenal, earning himself MVP when the pressure was on. His Search and Destroy prowess was on full show and there was simply no chance Dallas were going to beat him.

Cuyler ‘Huke’ Garland — Dallas Empire

Dallas themselves have a star-studded line-up, but few players have had more impact so far this season than Cuyler ‘Huke’ Garland, who once again proved why he’s in the argument for best Black Ops Cold War player in the world.

While it wasn’t the Empire’s day in the end, Huke will no doubt help keep them up top for the remainder of the season.

Dylan ‘Envoy’ Hannan — OpTic Chicago

Envoy was playing with the raw skill of his generation combined with game knowledge more commonly attributed to the most successful veterans.

While Brandon ‘Dashy’ Otell had some insane moments for OpTic, Envoy proved why all eyes are on him as a future world champion, and the young SMG will be the focal point for the Greenwall going forward.

Conor ‘Diamondcon’ Johst — New York Subliners

Diamondcon, who only started scrimming with the Subliners in January, looked the complete package at the Major. He was making huge plays and putting up massive kill counts to help them place third, taking out OpTic Chicago in an incredible 3-0 sweep.

While this New York side clearly has a lot of potential for the future, Diamondcon left no questions over whether he was good enough for the CDL in his first Major showing.

So, Stage 1 is over and Stage 2 is due to kick off on March 18. The question now is how these teams can up their game ahead of the next Major to topple Atlanta FaZe, and which players are going to prove themselves on Call of Duty’s biggest stage.
